General Awards
Community Service Ribbon - 40 Promotion Points
The BWC Community Service ribbon is given to members who actively participate
in spreading the word about the Company on various internet forums, and help
get the word out about our team. They are the members who provide services to
BWC that transcend the normal gameplay. They are the ones donating their time
and service toward making the unit prosper through support to the out-of-game
functions.
BWC Leadership Ribbon - 30 Promotion Points
This award is given to the BWC members who most exemplify the personal and professional
standards of leadership valued by the Company. These individuals, through their
actions and words, have provided the highest standard of guidance and leadership
to their fellow players, setting a standard of excellence for other leaders
to follow. These leaders do not command behind the lines, they do not lead by
Squad Waypoint alone. They are the members who consistently volunteer to lead,
who plan operations and conduct combat operations as BWC leaders. They are the
ones guiding the Company during missions, and they are the visible out-front
leaders.
Good Conduct Ribbon - 20 Promotion Points
This award is given to any BWC member who displays an act of outstanding conduct
and good character. These individuals have not just met the conduct standards
set forth by the Company, but defined them.
Joint Service Ribbon - 20 Promotion Points
This award is given to any and all BWC members who participate in an announced,
planned operation that is conducted with another outfit. Examples would be Alliance
operations, tag-teaming with another Planetside outfit, or working with a collection
of other guilds not in any game alliance that BWC is part of. Despite the SOP
requirement of checking in via posting in the Operations Forum, the criteria
to receive this award is as follows: members must post they will attend, then
attend an operation. Proactiveness in the form of notifying officers of their
awards status is the means by which awards will be given out.
Recruiting Ribbon - (5 Promotion Points per level)
The BWC rewards its members who constantly work to bring in new recruits. The
Recruiting Ribbon is a prime example of the tiered Consecutive Awards tree,
designated by a Star device to denote consecutive awardings of the same ribbon.
If you recruit three people, you are eligible for the Recruiting ribbon. If
you recruit five, you get a gold star! Yay! If you recruit seven, you get another
star. Nine recruits gets you a third star (for those who can't add by twos),
eleven recruits gets you a fourth, and thirteen or more earns you all five stars
on the ribbon.
Activity Awards
Longevity Ribbon - 100 Promotion Points
Given to members who have one year of service with BWC.
Forum Posts Ribbon - (Value Pending)
For every 100 posts, members earn a Forum Post ribbon. Successive awards are
denoted with a STAR icon.
Operations Leadership Ribbon – 25 Promotion Points Cluster – 10 Promotion Points
For every 5 operation that an individual leads using the required protocols
of BWC operation notification and after action review. A bronze cluster will
be awarded for each additional 5 operations lead.
CAMPAIGN RIBBONS
Black Widow Company frequently runs in-house tournaments or operations that
require their own recognition for attendance. Such operations are designed to
promote esprit de corps and emphasize the training we run, or are designed to
test our combat capabilities as a Planetside outfit.
Operation ROGUE WARRIOR Campaign Ribbon - 30 points
The Rogue Warrior Campaign Ribbon is given to BWC members who participated in
the Planetside special exercise that BWC ran entitled "ROGUE WARRIOR".
It is a combined-arms exercise designed to test the effectiveness of the BWC
Task Force scheme. As maximum participation was needed, the BWC awards this
campaign ribbon to those who participated in Operation ROGUE WARRIOR.
Operation STEEL DRAGON Campaign Ribbon - 30 points
The Steel Dragon Campaign Ribbon is given to BWC members who participated in
the Planetside special exercise that BWC ran entitled "STEEL DRAGON".
It is a team-versus-team scrimmage 3-round match with an offense and defense
for each round. As maximum participation was required, this award was devised.
A special variation is presented to the winning team.
TRAINING RIBBONS
Training Ribbons - N/A
These ribbons signify that a member has completed certain steps in the Basic
Training Initiative, BWC's standardized training program. There are three levels:
Basic, Advanced, and Leadership. These training courses change with the nature
of the game and/or with the changes in our fighting style. Each game that BWC
plays generally has its own set of BTI courses.
GENERAL MEDALS
Legion Of Honor - N/A
The Legion
of Honor (link!) has its own distinct page, a description is provided there. There
are no points for earning the Legion of Honor - induction into the LoH is its
own reward. Members who earn the Legion of Honor are promoted to the rank of
Legionnaire.
Purple Heart - 50 Promotion Points
Given to BWC members who are more likely to TK or accidentally kill a friendly
or BWC member than the enemy. More of a funny award than serious, thus its high
promotion points value (as consolation).
Distinguished Service Medal - 20 Promotion Points
The DSM is given to BWC members who have made lasting contributions to the Company that have
helped the Company move in a particular direction or grow beyond its
current boundaries. Members who show dedication to the Company and its spirit
above and beyond in-game and forum participation, who actively take a vested
interest in the Company and take an active part in making it grow are valued
members of the communities, and this medal is given specifically for that spirit.
Medal of Freedom - 15 Promotion Points
The Medal of Freedom is awarded to BWC soldiers who display great courage and
bravery in fighting the enemies of BWC. Such a soldier never deserts his combat
post and continues to fight the enemy when others have broken the line. The
Medal of Freedom is one of the most prestigious awards within the Company and
is not given freely. Soldiers who employ every means to push back the enemies
of BWC, despite all odds, are eligible for the Medal of Freedom
BWC Commendation Medal - 15 Promotion Points
For commendable service in service of the Black Widow Company. Criteria of this
award are: actions that distinguish the person above others in the outfit, for
personal actions that bring great credit on the Black Widow Company, and for
commendable service in Black Widow Company. Laymans terms: for people who do
great stuff in BWC, as opposed to those just along for the ride.
Legion of Valor - 10 Promotion Points
The Legion of Valor is the Terran Republic's most highest award for meritorious
service. It is conferred upon soldiers who have performed the most extraordinary
services for the Republic. It is generally awarded to soldiers for their outstanding
performance not necessarily within the line of duty or during combat. Recommendations
come through individual Terran Republic unit Command Staff, and the approving
authority is the individual unit's commanding officer.
Campaign Medal - 10 Promotion Points
The Campaign medal is an achievement award that reflects a player's dedication
to the game, the Company, and the continued dominance of the Black Widow Company.
This medal is worth 10 promotion points and is awarded for attending ten or more operations.
Veteran Campaign Medal - 90 Promotion Points
This medal is awarded to members who have participated in 50 or more BWC operations.
It rewards the dedication of our most active and distinguised members, those
of us who are always there to help, learn, teach and have some fun. All members
who can show that they have participated in 50 or more operations are eligible
for this medal. It replaces the campaign medal on the fruit salad and is worth
90 promotion points (for a total of 100 since the basic campaign medal is worth
10).
Exemplary Soldier Citation - 15 Promotion Points
The Exemplary Soldier Citation is given to that BWC trooper who has displayed
continuously superb conduct on the battlefield. Such a soldier never questions
orders, always puts Black Widow Company and our chosen in-game faction above
himself, and is an example to every member of this Company. This is not
an award based on experience or skill; it is an award based on a far greater
attribute, character. Only the humblest and most selfless of Black Widow
Company members are eligible to receive this award
THEATRE SERVICE RIBBONS
These ribbons are given to members who have served in designated games with the
Black Widow Company.
